Navigating the Turkish Healthcare System
Get Your SGK Card
Once your residence permit is processed, register at the nearest SGK office to get your health insurance card. You'll need your ikamet, passport, and university enrollment letter. This card is your access pass to public healthcare.
Use the E-Nabiz App
Turkey's digital health platform (e-Nabiz/e-Pulse) lets you book appointments at public hospitals, view your medical records, and see test results online. Available in English.
University Health Centers
Most universities have on-campus health centers for basic care. These are free, quick, and English-speaking staff are more common here than at public hospitals.
Pharmacy (Eczane) Access
Many medications available only by prescription in other countries are available over-the-counter at Turkish pharmacies. Pharmacists are often helpful and may speak some English. Prices are generally lower than Western countries.
