Türkiye Bursları Deadline & Timeline 2027

The 2027 application window runs 10 January – 20 February 2027. Here is the full 20-month path from clicking apply to your first lecture, plus the separate Success and Research Scholarship calendars.

Application Window: 10 January – 20 February 2027

Türkiye Bursları has one of the shortest application windows among major scholarships: roughly 40 days to submit everything. YTB uses the same 10 January – 20 February window every year for associate, bachelor's, master's and PhD applicants, so the 2027 round should follow it. The official 2027 announcement usually appears in late December (the 2026 one was posted on 29 December 2025).

Portal crash warning

The application portal (tbbs.turkiyeburslari.gov.tr) struggles every year in the final 3–5 days. In 2024, the server was down for 8+ hours on 19 February; in 2023, upload speeds dropped to near-zero on the last day. Submit by 10 February at the latest, and check the exact closing hour shown in TBBS. Do NOT gamble with your application.

The Full 20-Month Timeline

From opening your application to sitting in your first university lecture, the journey takes about 20 months. Months below follow YTB's official application calendar.

Create your account, fill in personal details and start uploading documents.

Application deadline
Final day to submit, Turkish time (UTC+3). Extensions are not given.

Mar – Apr 2027
Evaluation
YTB checks basics (grades, age, documents), then expert committees review eligible applications. Most rejections happen at this stage, and no feedback is given.

Apr – Jun 2027
Interview period
Shortlisted candidates receive invitations, often with about 7 days' notice. In person or online depending on your country; undergraduates also sit a 60-minute test.

Jun – Jul 2027
The silent wait
The longest wait. No updates, no tracking. This is when applicants lose sleep.

Early Aug 2027
Results announced
Acceptance or rejection by email. Accepted scholars receive their university placement, and initial procedures (visa, documents) run through August.

Sep 2027
Arrive in Türkiye
Travel to your assigned city. KYK dormitory check-in. Orientation events.

2027/28 academic year
TÖMER Turkish year
Full-time Turkish training, A1 to C1 in about 12 months. Attendance is compulsory.
Sep 2028
Degree programme begins
About 20 months after you first clicked "Apply", your degree officially starts.

Surviving the 6–7 Month Wait

Apply to other scholarships

Don't put all your eggs in one basket. With about a 2.5% acceptance rate, you'll statistically probably be rejected. Apply to alternatives at the same time.

Keep studying or working

Don't pause your life waiting for results. If you're accepted, you can leave gracefully; if not, you haven't lost months.

Start learning Turkish

Even before results, start basic Turkish. If accepted, you'll have a head start at TÖMER. If rejected, you've learned a new language. Win-win.

Avoid obsessive checking

Checking the portal daily won't make results come faster. Join a Telegram/WhatsApp group of applicants from your country for support, but don't let anxiety consume you.

Separate Timelines

Success Scholarship

The Türkiye Başarı Bursu is for international students already studying in Türkiye at their own expense who have outstanding grades. It is not part of the main January round: applications open in October – November (so October – November 2026 for the 2026/27 award) and results come in November – December. It pays a stipend only, for one academic year. Check turkiyeburslari.gov.tr for the exact dates.

Research Scholarship

Short-term research scholarships (3–12 months) for researchers and academics have their own calendar. Applications are open all year and assessed in four periods:
