Book flightsOne round-trip ticket is covered. Coordinate with YTB for reimbursement process

Arrive in Turkey (typically September)Airport pickup may be arranged by YTB or your university

Check into KYK dormitoryBring passport, acceptance letter, and KYK assignment document. See dormitory guide

Register at TOMERYour TOMER placement will be at or near your assigned university. See TOMER guide

Apply for residence permit (ikamet)Visit the Göç Ιdaresi in your city. See visa & residence guide

Open a bank accountUsually Ziraat Bank or Halkbank. Need ikamet + passport. Stipend will be deposited here

Get Turkish phone SIMTurkcell, Vodafone, or Türk Telekom. Student plans are cheapest

Register at SGK for health insuranceNeed ikamet + enrollment letter. See healthcare guide

Attend orientation eventsYTB and universities organize orientation. Great for meeting other scholars and learning the system
