You've beaten odds of about 2.5%. Results arrive by email in early August, and initial procedures run through August before scholars travel to Türkiye in September. Here's your step-by-step guide from acceptance to your first day.

Accept the scholarship offer
Reply within the deadline in the acceptance email (usually 7–14 days).
Apply for a student visa
At your nearest Turkish embassy or consulate. See the visa guide.
Get your medical report
Blood work, chest X-ray, vaccinations. See the documents guide.
Request your flight ticket
A one-off ticket is covered for your first arrival (and your return home after graduation). Request it in TBBS after you've confirmed your place; YTB buys the ticket or pays its cost.
Arrive in Türkiye (September)
Airport pickup may be arranged by YTB or your university.
Check into your dormitory
Bring your passport, acceptance letter and KYK assignment document. See the dormitory guide.
Register at TÖMER
Your TÖMER placement is at or near your assigned university. See the TÖMER guide.
Apply for your residence permit (ikamet)
Online at e-ikamet, then at the migration office in your city. See the visa & residence guide.
Open a bank account
Usually Ziraat Bank or Halkbank; you need your ikamet and passport. Your stipend is paid here.
Get a Turkish SIM
Turkcell, Vodafone or Türk Telekom. Student plans are cheapest.
Register with SGK for health insurance
Needs your ikamet and enrolment letter. See the healthcare guide.
Attend orientation events
YTB and universities run orientations — great for meeting other scholars and learning the system.

Learn key Turkish phrases

Merhaba (hello), teşekkür ederim (thank you), ne kadar? (how much?), nerede? (where?), yardım (help), lütfen (please), evet/hayır (yes/no). These get you through the first days before TÖMER starts.
