It depends on your country. Most countries have in-person interviews at the Turkish embassy or a designated center. Some countries, especially those without Turkish diplomatic missions, conduct online interviews. You'll be informed of the format when you receive your invitation.
Honestly, barely. The 4,500 TL Master's stipend is about $107/month at current exchange rates. In smaller cities with KYK housing, you can cover basic needs. In Istanbul, it's not enough. Many scholars rely on family support or find informal work. See our scholarship amount and living costs pages.

Generally yes. Major cities and university areas are safe, comparable to most European cities. Like anywhere, exercise normal precautions. Some scholars from African countries have reported occasional xenophobia, but violent incidents are rare. Turkish people are widely reported as welcoming and hospitable.
Officially discouraged but not strictly prohibited. Many scholars do freelance or part-time work (tutoring, translation, online freelancing). Full-time employment requires a separate work permit and may violate your student visa terms. See our during scholarship guide.
