One portal. No agents. Embassy first.
All applications run online at knb.kemdiktisaintek.go.id. The 2026 guidelines state that soliciting is prohibited. One person gets one account — finish your scans before you submit. Files should be JPEG/JPG, maximum 300 KB each, to reduce upload failures.
Documents must be written or officially translated into English or Bahasa. After you are admitted, changing university or programme is strictly prohibited, so research the annex list before you name a preference.
Official six-step procedure

Step 1
Download the Offering Letter
Take it from the official KNB website. Embassies expect this letter in the verification packet. The same site publishes the guidelines PDF, the embassy-letter template notes, and the host-university annex.

Step 2
Contact the Indonesian Representative with your documents
Bring or send the Offering Letter, official passport, CV, English test (if from a non-English-speaking country), employer recommendation (or unemployment statement), academic recommendation, legalized certificate and transcript, medical report, and — for doctoral applicants — a potential supervisor recommendation plus statement of purpose. Only an Embassy or Consulate General can issue the letter.

Step 3
Receive the embassy / consulate recommendation
Missions review educational background (including GPA, diploma, and institutional reputation), work history if any, and document validity. The letter year must match the selection year. In 2026, management accepted only letters signed in 2026 from the mission in your origin country.

Step 4
Complete the online application
Upload the Offering Letter, passport, English test, CV, medical report, embassy recommendation, employer and academic letters, and legalized academic records. Add the YouTube video link (maximum five minutes) covering your profile, why Indonesia and KNB, and why that campus and programme.

Step 5
Administrative and academic selection
Files are verified by the Indonesian Embassy, the Ministry, and the university. Shortlisted candidates sit an online interview and a psychological test at the selected universities. In 2026, embassy admin ran 6–17 April, ministry admin 20–30 April, and academic / interview / psikotest 4–22 May.

Step 6
Results
Results are broadcast on the KNB website, sent to the registered email, and announced through the Indonesian Publication Network. In 2026 the announcement date was 19 June. Check the portal account, not only your inbox.
Before you click submit
Collect university and programme information first. The guidelines warn that once admitted, changing either is forbidden. Confirm that your previous degree aligns with the chosen major. Match every personal field to the passport. Keep one account and do not finish registration until scans are complete and under the size cap.
