What the official FAQ lists — without invented IDR figures
Aggregator sites often publish monthly living-cost numbers that do not appear as a public IDR tariff in the Ministry’s FAQ. This handbook follows the official wording. The 2026 FAQ states that the scholarship includes tuition fees, monthly living expenses, arrival allowance, book and research allowance, publication assistance, transportation for arrival and return (upon graduation), and monthly health insurance, according to the scholarship’s terms and conditions.
The 2026 guidelines expand the same package: settlement allowance on arrival; tuition for BIPA and the academic programme in a regular class, not an international class, for the funded duration; monthly living allowance while you live in Indonesia during the scholarship; monthly research and book allowance; health insurance for illness (outpatient and inpatient) and accidents, following the provider’s policy and excluding aesthetic treatment; funding to publish a scientific article once during the period for master’s and doctoral students; and economy-class tickets plus local transport on arrival and after the graduation certificate is issued.

Doctoral study is offered in two schemes: by research, or by a combination of coursework and research. All research in the academic programme is held in Indonesia. BIPA is compulsory because lectures, thesis, and dissertation work are conducted in Bahasa.
What is not covered
The guidelines say the award is calculated to support the KNB student only. There is no provision for dependents or family. Awardees are not allowed to bring family to Indonesia. The scholarship provides no financial or pastoral support for dependents, will not endorse their visa applications, and will not provide their travel. The official FAQ adds that universities cannot sponsor family immigration.
Expenses outside the listed items are personal and borne by the student. Dormitory availability is a university policy, not a guaranteed KNB housing entitlement. Return tickets are booked by the host university after the graduation certificate is issued; programme completion is not the same as attending a commencement ceremony. Students must return home no later than 60 days after the programme ends or the certificate is issued, provided the residence permit has not expired, and must apply for an Exit Permit Only (EPO).
Why this page has no monthly IDR number
