What Tempus Asks For
Everything is uploaded to the online application system by the deadline (15 January 2026, 2 p.m. CET in the last cycle; the 2027/28 date is expected in mid-January 2027). Tempus wants no hard copies, but your sending partner might. Each file can be at most 4 MB. Translations are only needed if the original isn't in English, Hungarian or your programme's language.
A few documents may follow after the deadline if you genuinely can't get them in time — your school or degree certificate, language proof and passport — but only if you upload a signed declaration by the deadline. Everything else must be in on time.

Medical Certificate Requirements
The medical certificate confirms you are fit to study and lists your condition against the diseases on the official form. Under the current call:
- It must be issued and signed by a physician, using the mandatory Tempus template with the attachments it lists.
- Ask your host university which language and translation it accepts.
- It must be recent — for 2026/27, issued no earlier than 1 November 2025 (expect the equivalent date in 2026 for the 2027/28 call).
- Only scholarship holders need one. You don't upload it: you bring it to Hungary and present it at the compulsory medical examination your university organises on arrival.
- Some sending partners require it upfront; others after selection. Start the process as soon as you hear you've been nominated.
Automatic Rejection Triggers
Missing sending partner nomination. Not submitting online by the deadline (15 January 2026, 14:00 CET for 2026/27). Citizenship different from your sending partner. Born after 31 August 2008 (2026/27 call; dance excepted). More than one application or account. Not accepting the Statement for Application. False information.
Incomplete documents. Documents not in English, Hungarian or the programme language without translation. Copied (plagiarised) texts. Blurry or unreadable document scans. Missing apostille/notarisation where required. Language certificate below the minimum requirement. Files over the 4 MB size limit. Wrong file format (images instead of PDF).
Country-Specific Verification Stamps
Depending on your country, academic documents may need additional verification.
Apostille (Hague Convention countries)
If your country is a member of the Hague Apostille Convention, you may need an apostille stamp on your educational documents. Processing time: 1–3 weeks.
Embassy legalisation (non-Hague countries)
If your country is NOT a Hague Convention member, documents may need to be legalised through the Hungarian Embassy in your country. This can take 3–6 weeks.
