Research Students (Master's / PhD)
Master's: 4-year bachelor's degree (16 years total education). PhD: master's or equivalent. The research plan is the most critical document — a brilliant proposal can compensate for a less-than-perfect GPA.
Born after April 2, 1992 for 2027 intake.
Undergraduate
Must complete 12 years of schooling. Take Embassy screening exams in math, English, Japanese, plus science subjects for STEM tracks.
Teacher Training
Must be an active teacher with 5+ years experience at primary/secondary level. Must return to teaching position after programme.
Young Leaders Program
Mid-career professionals in government, business, law, or public administration. Nomination only — no open application. Must be nominated by a government agency.
