Fulbright Interview Guide
The interview is 15–20 minutes with 8–12 panelists. Select a category.
Interview Format
Duration: 15–20 minutes (some countries 30 min).
Panel: 8–12 members — professors, ministry reps, IIE staff, embassy officials, alumni.
Setting: Commission office, embassy, or partner university. Formal atmosphere.
Structure: Different panelists ask questions in turn.
What the Panel Is Really Assessing
Cultural Readiness: Can you adapt to life in the U.S.? Have you thought about daily cultural differences?
Ambassador Potential: Will you engage with American communities and build cross-cultural connections?
Research Feasibility: Can you actually accomplish your proposed project?
Adaptability: How do you handle plans changing and resources being scarce?

How to Prepare
Re-read your SGP — they will ask about specific claims you made.
Practice the 2-minute pitch — "Tell us about your project" in plain language.
Research current events in U.S.-[your country] relations.
Prepare cultural engagement examples — how you will be an ambassador.
Have a Plan B — "What if your advisor is unavailable?"
