Reality: These are minimums. Winners typically score 15–20 points above the minimum.

Fields of Study

Clinical Medicine (MD) — Most countries exclude it
MBA Programs — Seen as career-advancing, not development-focused
Law (JD) — LLM may be accepted in some countries
Dentistry & Clinical Nursing
STEM — Climate science, renewable energy, public health
Public Policy — International relations, development economics
Education — Curriculum development, TESOL
Arts & Humanities — Music, journalism, area studies

Country-Specific Variations

Min 3 years work experience. TOEFL 80+. No MBA funding. Preference for applicants outside Jakarta.

TOEFL 80+ (some 90+). 16 years education required. Strong STEM preference. Multi-stage interview with 15 panelists.

TOEFL 100+ competitive. Very strong applicant pool due to DAAD alternative. Both Study and Research awards available.

Min 2 years work experience. TOEFL ~85. STEM/public health/education priority. Home country return heavily weighted.

TOEFL 79–80. No work experience required for Study awards. Both Master's and PhD funding. Active arts programs.
