April 30, then the holder’s guide
NSERC’s CGRS-D page and the scholarship deadlines table both say you will be notified of results by 30 April. If you accept, the relevant agency will publish your name and other basic award information, subject to the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act.
Award holders must follow the Tri-agency research training award holder’s guide and any other documents tied to the application and the award. The agencies reserve the right to interpret those policies. Part-time tenure may be possible; that detail lives in the holder’s guide, not in a campus rumour.
Appointments and other awards
CIHR or NSERC: you cannot hold a tenure or tenure-track appointment, or be on leave from one, at the same time as CGRS-D. SSHRC: you may hold the award while on an approved leave from a tenure-track position to undertake your first doctorate — write [email protected] early if that is your situation.
Individual development plans are encouraged and are not a CGRS-D selection criterion. CIHR hosts IDP modules. Use them if they help; do not treat them as a hidden scored essay.
If the answer is no
You may apply to CGRS-D up to three times, and you still cannot hold a prior agency doctoral award including Vanier. You still may submit only one CRTAS program per academic year. Use the year to lock transcripts earlier, move referees off the last weekend, and re-read the channel table. This handbook does not run appeals.
