CROUS Application Timeline

Jan–May: DSE (Dossier Social Étudiant)

June–July: Allocation Phase

CROUS releases rooms in waves. Check portal obsessively. Rooms go in minutes.

Spot the Scam

Can you identify which scenarios are scams?

"Beautiful studio in Paris 5th, €400/month. Send €800 deposit via Western Union to secure it before viewing."

Correct! Never send money via Western Union. Never pay before viewing. €400 in Paris 5th is impossibly cheap.

This is a scam. Red flags: Western Union, deposit before viewing, price too good for the location.

"CROUS residence room available, 9m², €250/month. Apply through messervices.etudiant.gouv.fr with your DSE number."

Correct! Official CROUS process through the government portal. Realistic price and size.

This is actually legitimate. CROUS rooms are small and affordable, applied through the official government portal.
