Overall Progress

Passport

Valid for 15+ months from entry. Minimum 2 blank pages.

Degree Certificate(s)

Original + certified copy. If still studying: provisional certificate from university.

Academic Transcripts

All years of higher education. Official sealed copies from your university.

Sworn French Translations

All non-French/English documents must be translated by a certified translator (traducteur assermenté).

Motivation Letter

1 page, formal French format. See our guide.

CV / Resume

Europass or French format preferred. Include photo (French convention).

Language Test Results

DELF/DALF or TCF for French. IELTS/TOEFL for English-taught programmes.

Reference Letters (2–3)

Academic references on university letterhead. Signed and dated.

Passport Photos

French format: 35x45mm, white background, neutral expression. Need 3–5 copies.

Financial Proof

Bank statements showing €615/month minimum. Or scholarship letter covering living expenses.

Travel/Health Insurance

Coverage for first 3 months minimum. Some scholarships include this.

Birth Certificate

Apostilled or legalized. With sworn French translation if not in French/English.

PDF Format

Études en France portal accepts PDF only. Max 300KB per file. Scan at 150 DPI.

File Naming

Use: LASTNAME_documenttype.pdf (e.g., MARTIN_transcript.pdf). No spaces or accents.

Common Pitfalls

Portal crashes if files are too large. Compress with smallpdf.com. Save local copies of everything.
