Apostille vs Legalization
Requirements vary by country. Click each to see if it applies to you.
Most European countries, US, Australia, India, Brazil, South Africa. Get an apostille stamp from your Ministry of Foreign Affairs or notary. Processing: 1–4 weeks. You may also need a certified translation separately.
Some Middle East, Africa, and Asian nations. Requires: (1) notarization, (2) authentication by your Ministry, (3) legalization by Dutch Embassy. Total: 4–8 weeks. Start as early as possible.
Not all Dutch universities require apostilles for all countries. Email: "Do I need an apostille on my documents from [country]?" This one email can save weeks of unnecessary work.
