How to Apply for ETH Zurich ESOP 2027

One file: Master’s admission + ESOP

ETH is explicit: ESOP applications are supplied via eApply, the online Master’s application. That also applies to ETH Bachelor students applying for a consecutive Master’s. There is no separate paper form on the current official page.

Six steps

   Confirm the programme and the window

   Make sure the programme is a regular Master’s (not an MAS) and that you will use the first window.

   Collect the Master’s dossier

   Official transcripts, CV, language proof and programme-specific items. See Documents.

   Write the pre-proposal yourself

   Maximum 500 words excluding references. See the pre-proposal page.

4. 4
   Name two professors

   Only if the programme does not ask for references. They upload their letters after a system email.

5. 5
   Open eApply in the first window

   Upload everything, including the ESOP extras. See eApply + first window.

6. 6
   Stay reachable in February

   Keep the CV phone number live, or tell the programme coordinator.

What the Master’s how-to-apply page adds

ETH’s international-Bachelor How do I apply? page is about admission, not ESOP, but ESOP uses that same portal. The official points that matter once you attach ESOP:

• Complete file by the deadline. Late or incomplete applications cannot be processed.
• You may apply for two Master’s programmes per semester. Each has a CHF 150 application fee, not refundable, paid in eApply. That is an admission fee, not an ESOP fee.
• The Admissions Office screens, then the programme committee evaluates. ESOP uses those same admissions committees; the Rector then awards ESOP.
• Admission decisions are normally issued within 2–3 months of the submission deadline and appear in eApply. ESOP itself is communicated at the end of March.
• No Spring Semester entry for these Master’s windows. HS27 is autumn 2027.

ESOP is not a nomination you wait for

You opt into ESOP inside the first-window Master’s file. The ESOP page does not ask for a nomination from your home university; that is an ESKAS / other-programme pattern. In the official FAQ, “no nomination for ESOP” means you were not selected for the scholarship, and ETH says Master’s admission is then unaffected.
