Official: CHF 12,000 per semester, from HS27 onwards CHF 13,500, plus a tuition fee waiver for the regular Master's duration (three or four semesters). Planning tool, not an official ETH decision.

What ETH writes about the money

The official sentence is that the scholarship covers the full study and living costs during the Master's. The quantified award is CHF 12,000 per semester, rising to CHF 13,500 from HS27, “as well as a tuition fee waiver.” Both the cash scholarship and the waiver last for the regular Master's duration only.

For 2027/28 ETH will assign approximately 60 ESOP scholarships. The exact number depends on the availability of funds. Admissions committees of the respective Master's programmes evaluate applications. The final award decision rests with the Rector. Communication is at the end of March.

ETH does not publish a family supplement, a travel grant, or a Zurich rent figure on the ESOP page. Treat CHF 13,500 per semester as the official living-and-study amount, not as a salary and not as a guarantee that every cost in the city is covered once you choose housing.

What this page will not invent

• An older paper form mentioned an “ETH-D Scholarship.” The current ESOP page does not. Treat ETH-D as unverified for HS27 unless ETH republishes it.
• Ordinary ETH tuition and semester fees sit on separate finance pages. ESOP waives tuition for the regular duration; confirm the current fee table on ethz.ch if you need a cash comparison.
