Application

eApply and the first window

1–30 November 2026 is the only ESOP window for HS27. The Swiss Bachelor window in April 2027 does not reopen it. eApply is not GO ESKAS.

First window + eApply checker

If you miss the first window, ESOP for HS27 is gone. The April Swiss Bachelor window is not a second ESOP chance. Planning tool, not an official ETH decision.

1. You will submit in 1–30 November 2026, not April 2027?

2. You will use eApply (not GO ESKAS, not email)?

3. You understand April 2027 is only for Swiss Bachelor Master's admission — not ESOP?

4. If you are an ETH consecutive Bachelor student, you still apply for ESOP via eApply?

Window and portal match the official rules

One of these official constraints is off — stop and reread the dates page

Who must use the November window

ETH's Application Dates Autumn Semester 2027 page makes the first window mandatory for:

  • Students with a Bachelor's from outside Switzerland
  • Students who wish to apply for ESOP or a Direct doctorate (DD)
  • Students with a Master's/PhD from a Swiss university who earned the undergraduate degree outside Switzerland

Everyone else may also apply in November. The April 2027 window (1–30 April, 11:59 AM CEST) is only for candidates with a Swiss Bachelor's, and international Bachelor files cannot be considered then. Applicants rejected in the first round must not re-apply for the same Master's in the second round.

The clock on 30 November 2026

ETH currently prints three slightly different close times. Treat them as a warning not to file in the last hour:

  • ESOP page: “Nov, 1 - Nov, 30 2026, 11.59h, MEZ” — and elsewhere on the same page “12.59 MEZ”.
  • Dates page: Monday 30 November 2026 11:59 AM CET.
  • eApply portal text: 1 November 2026 00:00 to 30 November 2026 12:00 CET (noon). Late applications are not possible.

The portal is what accepts or rejects a submission. Official help: Help for eApply. Portal entry: lehrbetrieb.ethz.ch/eApply.

eApply is not GO ESKAS

Swiss Government Excellence applications use GO ESKAS on the Confederation site. ESOP does not. If a blog tells you to “apply for the Swiss Excellence scholarship at ETH via eApply,” it has merged two programmes. Use this handbook for ESOP and /swiss-excellence/ for ESKAS.
