Eligibility Requirements by Programme

GREAT Scholarships

Nationality: Must be from one of the 18 eligible countries listed above
2
Level: Postgraduate (Master's) taught programmes only. No PhDs, no undergrad.

Academic: Meet the entry requirements of your chosen university and programme
4
English: Meet the IELTS/English requirement of your chosen university (typically 6.0-7.0)
5
No age limit: Unlike many scholarships, GREAT has no explicit age restriction

Chevening Scholarships

Nationality: Citizen of a Chevening-eligible country (most non-UK countries)

Work Experience: Minimum 2 years (2,800 hours) of work experience. This is non-negotiable.

Return Home: Must return to home country for minimum 2 years after the scholarship
4
Level: 1-year Master's programmes only (not PhD, not 2-year programmes)
5
Offers: Must apply to 3 different eligible UK universities and receive at least one unconditional offer

Commonwealth Scholarships

Nationality: Must be a citizen of a Commonwealth member state (56 countries)

Residency: Must be permanently resident in an eligible Commonwealth country

Academic: Typically require a first-class or upper-second-class undergraduate degree

Nomination: Must be nominated by an approved body in your home country (national body, university, etc.)

Development focus: Must demonstrate how your study will benefit your home country's development

Women in STEM Scholarships

Gender: Must identify as a woman

Field: Must study a STEM subject (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics)

Background: Must come from a disadvantaged or underrepresented background

Level: Master's programmes at select UK universities

Leadership: Must demonstrate leadership potential and commitment to improving gender equality in STEM
