The EC cross-references all applications automatically. Apply to a 4th and you lose all of them. Choose 3 wisely. See Programme Selection.

Each letter must be tailored to the specific programme, its universities, and its mobility track. Reviewers read hundreds of "I want to study in Europe" letters. Stand out by being specific. See Motivation Letter guide.

Submit at least 48 hours before the deadline. Portals crash, uploads fail, and there are no extensions. If the system goes down at 23:59, that is your problem.

Category A (non-EU) gets 75% of spots. Category B (EU/EEA) gets 25%. Dual citizens, people who studied in Europe — the residency rule catches many by surprise. See Eligibility.

Ask professors who know your work deeply. Brief them on the programme. Give them your CV and draft motivation letter so they can reference specifics. See References guide.

Reviewers can tell when you haven't visited the partner universities' pages. Mention specific professors, research groups, or courses that align with your goals. Show you chose this programme deliberately.

One programme wants 500 words; another wants 1,000. One needs certified translations; another accepts scans. Read each programme's requirements page line by line. See Documents.

Check your test date. If it expires before the application deadline, retake it. Book early — peak season (Oct–Dec) slots fill up 2–3 months in advance.

Your letter must connect past experience, the programme, and a clear future direction. "I want to work in international development" is too vague. Be specific about what you'll do with the degree.

The €1,400 stipend doesn't cover rent in half the cities. Save €2,000–5,000 before starting. Research your mobility track cities. See Living Costs.
