Clarendon Deadline 2027–28: Look Up Your Course, Not a Blog

There is no Clarendon closing date. There is your course’s.

Every year blogs invent a single “Clarendon deadline 2027” and paste a calendar date that belonged to one department last cycle. That is how people miss the award. Oxford’s rule is: you will be automatically considered if you apply by the December or January deadline, whichever is relevant to your course. Deadline information lives on the graduate course pages.

As of 6 October 2026, the 2027–28 graduate admissions cycle is the live cycle (course pages now show 2027–28 applications as open). Open your course page and read the date printed there. If two dates appear, read the surrounding sentence that tells you which one is the scholarship / gathered-field deadline.

Published 2027–28 course deadlines: examples only

Departments have now printed their 2027–28 dates, and they show why a single “Clarendon deadline” does not exist. These are examples from official course and department pages, all at 12 noon UK time. They are not your date unless your course is on this list.

The clock is 12 noon UK time

Oxford’s graduate course pages state that application deadlines fall at 12 noon UK time (midday). An application that is not complete by the deadline, with all mandatory documents and at least two submitted references, will not usually be considered. If you are in Lagos, Delhi, or Los Angeles, midday in Oxford is not midnight on your phone.

   Use the graduate admissions catalogue. Do not rely on a department tweet screenshot from last November.

   Read “How to apply” and the deadline table

   Almost all courses have a December or January deadline. That is the latest deadline to be considered for the majority of Oxford scholarships, including Clarendon.

   If a November deadline exists

   Oxford says applications submitted by that date are also considered for Oxford scholarships and are more likely to receive an earlier decision. Using November does not hurt Clarendon; it can only help your timeline.

   A later gathered field

   Often March, it may still admit you to the course if places remain. Oxford says applications for a March or later deadline are ineligible for Oxford scholarships, including Clarendon.

Departments assess the academic file and decide whom to nominate. For the 2027–28 cycle, the official pattern puts the milestones in 2027:

   Complete file, references included, by 12 noon UK time.

   Divisions review nominations

   Academic divisions and Continuing Education meet to review departmental nominations and shortlist for Clarendon.

   By the end of April 2027

   Most CB1 offers sent

   Successful applicants receive a scholarship offer letter, referred to internally as a CB1.

   April into summer 2027

   Partnership awards and the CB2

   Partnership awards are matched and a CB2 funding-breakdown letter follows, with college placement confirmed alongside those awards.

5. Mid-June 2027

   The silence rule

   Unsuccessful students are not contacted. If you have not heard by mid-June, assume you have not been awarded a Clarendon scholarship.
