How to Apply for the Pearson Scholarship 2027, Step by Step

Two applications and one nomination, all before 6 November 2026. The U of T admission application must go in by 16 October — three months before the normal deadline. Here is the order that works.

The Pearson Scholarship has no single application form. You need a school nomination, a full U of T admission application, and then a separate Pearson application that opens only after the first two exist. The steps below follow U of T’s official sequence for the September 2027 intake.

The full sequence

  1. 1
    Now
Confirm eligibility and choose your top program

The award applies only to your top program choice when decisions are made, so pick it carefully.

  2. 2
    By 9 October 2026
    Secure your school’s nomination

One nominee per school. New schools must register by noon ET the same day.

  3. 3
    By 16 October 2026
Submit your U of T admission application

Apply to at least one undergraduate program starting September 2027. You may list up to three program areas.

  4. 4
    After nomination
    Open the private Pearson link

U of T emails nominees a private link. You can complete it only after your admission application is submitted.

  5. 5
    By 6 November 2026
Submit the Pearson application and all documents

U of T calls this the “scholarship application deadline and documentation submission deadline”.

  6. 6
    November–February
Complete Join U of T next steps

Upload transcripts, English results and any supplementary applications your program requires.

U of T admits undergraduates through the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre (OUAC). According to its applications page, you can submit only one application type:

ApplicationUse it ifFee
U of T International ApplicationYou live outside Canada, have never studied in Canada, and are applying to no other Ontario university$196 CAD, non-refundable
OUAC Undergraduate ApplicationYou are applying to other Ontario universities too, or you study in CanadaSet by OUAC; check its site

If you submit both, U of T cancels the second one without a refund. About a week after applying, you receive a JOINid and access to the Join U of T applicant portal (or the Engineering Applicant Portal).

Program choices and the top-choice rule

You may apply to up to three program areas. But U of T states that the Pearson Scholarship “would be restricted to your top choice of program at the time our scholarship decisions are made”. If you list Engineering first and Life Sciences second, and are not admitted to Engineering, do not assume Pearson follows you to Life Sciences. Put the program you genuinely want, and can realistically be admitted to, first.

Some programs require supplementary material, such as the Engineering Online Student Profile (due 15 January) or the Rotman Commerce and Computer Science supplementary applications (due 1 February), per U of T’s dates and deadlines. These are separate from Pearson but still decide your admission.

English and academic requirements

Every applicant needs a senior-level English course. If English is not your first language, you need a test or an exemption. Published minimums on U of T’s English page:

TestMinimum
IELTS Academic6.5 overall, no band below 6.0
TOEFL iBT (new scale)4.5 overall, Writing 4.5, Speaking 4.0
