Italian Government Scholarship Documents: What the Last Call Wanted

A working checklist from the published 2026–27 pattern — labelled as pattern, not as a frozen 2027 annex. The next PDF can add or drop items.

Build one file, in one country

Document rules follow the annual call and the mission that reads your country track. What follows is the last published pattern, not a secret extra list. When the 2027–28 call appears on the official site, that call wins. Upload on Study in Italy using the same identity you will take to a visa window.

Names must match the passport. Translations should be complete, not decorative cover pages. A mission that cannot read a transcript will not guess your GPA. If a document is issued in a language the call does not accept, commission a translation before the portal opens — not on closing week.

Core file — last published pattern

Language evidence	B2 Italian for Italian-taught; B2 English (or English-taught bachelor proof) for English-taught; A2 Italian for Italofonia; none for PhD and research. See language.
Curriculum vitae	A factual record, not a branding deck. Dates that contradict transcripts hurt more than a modest design.
Motivation / study plan	Why this Italian host, onsite, in this type. Cultural cooperation is the statute's purpose — empty tourism language is obvious.
University admission or pre-enrolment trail	Universitaly and the host's own process. A grant file is not enrolment.

Type-specific papers

Research — invitation letter and project

The last call required an invitation letter from your Italian supervisor plus your research project. The letter should identify you, the host structure, and the research stay. A generic “we welcome international researchers” PDF is not an invitation. This type is nine months and not renewable, and nothing can be added after you submit.

PhD — admission letter

Upload the degree certificate and the PhD admission letter. Pre-admission letters were not accepted. If you did not yet have the admission letter, the call let you declare that and upload your supervisor's invitation letter instead, with the admission letter to follow only if requested.

Joint and double degrees — Italian enrolment certificate

You must be able to produce a valid Italian enrolment certificate for the academic year; the last call made it mandatory for payment. A certificate from the non-Italian partner alone does not prove Italian enrolment. If the Italian university cannot enrol you, the grant has nowhere to sit.

Bachelor Costruiamo il futuro and other renewals — progress evidence

This path is renewal only. First-award bachelor applicants should not assemble a “creative” first-year file. Renewal applicants in the last call uploaded a certificate or signed self-declaration of credits earned (priority from 15 CFU); PhD renewals also needed a positive evaluation letter from the supervisor.

AFAM and PhD host papers

Expect host-specific admission papers: entrance tests, supervisor statements, or academy auditions. MAECI does not waive those. Keep them in the same identity as the scholarship form.

Supplementary documents: declare, then wait to be asked

If you did not yet hold your degree certificate, PhD admission letter or language certificate (master's, AFAM and PhD only), the last call let you declare it in the application. The upload function opened later only for applicants who had declared the need and appeared in the merit ranking, with a cut-off of 1 July 2026 at 14:00 Italian time. Documents uploaded without that authorisation were ignored. For research, Italofonia and renewals, no supplementary uploads were possible at all.

Quality control before you click submit

Scan in colour if stamps matter. Do not crop a seal. Do not upload a WhatsApp screenshot of a diploma. If the portal states size or format limits in the new call, obey those limits rather than a forum memory. Keep the original files; visa officers later will ask for paper that matches what the mission already saw.

Universitaly documents and MAECI documents overlap but are not twins. A pre-enrolment receipt is not a language certificate. A language certificate is not an invitation letter. Label files so a diplomat who opens twenty PDFs that morning can see what each one is.
