The letter is not the landing
Selection happens on a country track. The same Italian mission that read your file is usually the office you will return to with a visa file. Do not celebrate by disappearing from Study in Italy. Accept whatever the portal and the mission ask you to accept, on their deadline — which this handbook will not invent for 2027–28.
You still need a real seat in Italy. Pre-enrolment and tests remain on Universitaly and with the host. Joint and double degrees still need a valid Italian enrolment certificate. A MAECI yes does not create a matriculation number.

The money pipe
The last published pattern paid €10,800 in three instalments (€5,500 + €2,300 + €3,000), or €3,600 for language courses, to an Italian current account. Opening that account is part of taking up the award. Foreign IBANs were not the published pipe.
Instalments are uneven. Rent is monthly. Arrive able to live until the first transfer actually posts. Host international offices often tell you which banks will open an account for a newly arrived student; follow their list rather than a general travel blog.

Accept on the channel the mission names
Portal, email, or note verbale — use what they send. Keep PDFs. You will show them again at enrolment and at the consulate.

Lock enrolment and Universitaly
Finish pre-enrolment, sit outstanding tests, and obtain the Italian enrolment certificate if you are on a joint or double degree. The grant follows a real Italian seat.

Take the visa file to the same country track
Study visas are an immigration process, not a MAECI annex. Use the Italian mission competent for the country you applied through. Bring the award letter, admission proof, and whatever that consulate’s published study-visa list requires. This handbook does not invent appointment weeks.

On arrival: tax code, account, first instalment
A codice fiscale is ordinary Italian admin for banking and contracts. Open the Italian current account. Give the IBAN to whoever the award instructions name. Do not expect the first €5,500 (last published first instalment) to land the week you land.

If your type is renewable, treat next year as a new file
Master’s, AFAM, and PhD were renewable in the last call. Research was not. Bachelor Costruiamo il futuro was already a renewal path. A future call will say whether renewals remain and what proof of progress they want. Do not assume a silent rollover.
If you are not selected
The country track is competitive and diplomatic. A rejection is not a comment on every other Italian university scholarship. You can still enrol if the host admits you and you can pay. You can watch the official MAECI page for the next annual cycle — 2027–28 dates included — without inventing them in the meantime.
