Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Deadlines 2027–28: There Is No Single Date
The scholarship deadline is your course deadline. For 2027–28 that means anywhere from 2 December 2026 to late January 2027, always at 12:00 midday UK time, with interviews likely in April and decisions by the end of May.
The Oxford scholarship page says you must apply “by the relevant December or January deadline for your course”. There is no separate Weidenfeld-Hoffmann date. Some blogs quote one fixed January date for everyone; ignore that and read your own course page.
Sample 2027–28 course deadlines
These are eligible courses whose 2027–28 deadlines we checked on official Oxford pages on 6 October 2026. All are at 12:00 midday UK time.
| Course | Earlier deadline | Scholarship / final deadline |
|---|---|---|
| Master of Public Policy (MPP) | — | Wed 2 Dec 2026 (Blavatnik School) |
| MSc African Studies | Fri 13 Nov 2026 | Tue 26 Jan 2027 |
| MSc Water Science, Policy and Management | Fri 13 Nov 2026 | Tue 26 Jan 2027 |
| MSc Economics for Development | — | Tue 26 Jan 2027 |
| MSc Refugee and Forced Migration Studies | — | Tue 26 Jan 2027 |
The Oxford Department of International Development also lists three 2027–28 deadline dates: 2 December 2026, 7 January 2027 (its two DPhil degrees only) and 26 January 2027. Other departments set their own. The MBA runs its own admissions rounds through Saïd Business School, so check which round counts for Oxford scholarships before you plan around it.
Where a course lists a November date, Oxford says applications by that date are more likely to receive earlier decisions. It does not change your scholarship consideration: the WH rule is the December or January field. Submitting early simply gives you more margin.

A working countdown
Oxford recommends submitting at least two weeks before a deadline that matters for scholarships. Work back from your course date:
| Weeks before deadline | Do this |
|---|---|
| 10–12 | Confirm course, country and English test date. Ask three referees. |
| 8 | First full draft of the WH Statement and the course statement of purpose. |
| 6 | Send referees your CV, both statements and the deadline in UK time. |
| 4 | Final drafts. Check fee-waiver eligibility. |
| 2 | Submit. Chase any missing references. |
Time zones
Every December and January deadline falls in UK winter time, which is GMT. 12:00 midday GMT is 17:30 in New Delhi, 15:00 in Nairobi, 07:00 in Bogotá and 20:00 in Manila. Convert from GMT, not from British Summer Time.
