Both the NSP and ODA programmes state explicitly that an application missing any mandatory attachment is automatically excluded from the selection process. The committee does not review partial applications. There is no way to submit a missing document after the deadline and no appeal mechanism for document-related exclusion.
NSP Required Documents — by Category
Master's Students
-
Acceptance/invitation letter from Slovak host institution — on official letterhead, signed by the authorised person (International Relations Office or vice-dean), stating the study period, programme, and expected credits. Original must be posted to SAIA within 3 working days of deadline. Letter must not be older than 3 months at the time of deadline.

-

-
Transcript of records — official academic transcript covering all completed university study. Must show grades/marks for each subject.
-
Passport copy — data page showing full name, nationality, date of birth, and passport number.
-

PhD Students and Researchers
All documents listed for master's students apply, plus:
-
Research plan or proposal — detailed description of the research you intend to conduct during your stay. Should reference the specific facilities, faculty, or data available at your host institution. Must be physically signed.
-
Acceptance letter reflecting genuine research interest — for PhD applicants, the host institution's letter must demonstrate that the supervisor or department genuinely wants to work with you, not just that they will accept a visiting student. Generic form letters perform poorly with the committee.
-
List of publications (if any) — must be submitted in the prescribed NSP format. If you submit publications in any other format, they will be disregarded or may trigger disqualification. Download the form template from the NSP portal.
Documents must be in Slovak or English only. Documents in any other language must be accompanied by a certified official translation. The translation must be done by a certified court-sworn translator — a general translation service is not acceptable. Your transcripts, certificates, and acceptance letter must all be in one of these two languages or accompanied by a compliant translation.
