Everything you need to upload, arrange, and submit for your Gates Cambridge application. Use the interactive checklist below to track your progress. Remember: there is no separate Gates application — everything goes through the Cambridge Graduate Application Portal.
Visit the Cambridge Graduate Application Portal and create an account. You'll need an email address you check regularly — all communication comes through this portal.
Fill in your personal details, educational history, and programme choice. Be thorough and accurate — discrepancies with your transcripts will raise flags.
In the funding section, tick the Gates Cambridge Scholarship box. This unlocks the four criteria essay fields. You can also tick other funding sources (Cambridge Trust, etc.) without affecting your Gates consideration. Do not skip this step.
Complete the four Gates essays, upload your transcripts, test scores, CV, and research proposal (if applicable). Review everything before submission — the portal does not allow edits after you submit.
Enter your referees' contact details. They'll receive automated emails with a link to submit their letters. Pay the application fee and submit. You'll receive a confirmation email.
Double-check your essays, confirm your referees, and submit before the deadline.
